According to NACE, the average ratio of career counselors to students is 1:2370. Compounding that impossible ratio are predictions that the colleges and universities will have to increasingly take more responsibility in ensuring their students have success in the workplace.

The Career Center can now better serve as the coach for students. Giving the tool to the whole student body provides invaluable data to the Career Center and extends the reach and impact of Career Counselors. This is a huge benefit to parents and meets their expectations of the Career Center to provide job placements.

When more students feel more prepared to interview and are confident to go for more jobs, the Career Center will fulfill its obligation to employers who come to campus and post jobs. In turn, employers will provide more opportunities to the school.

NACE Predictions for Our Profession in 2021: Arlene Kaukus, director of career services at the University at Buffalo, believes that by 2021 career services will have to shift its approach to account for changes in the marketplace in order to meet its goal of preparing students for success in the workplace.
